Received a Lovely Giveaway!

Last month I won the giveaway at Mylene's blog, she sent me this GORGEOUS floss tag (my first). Its got a lovely black cat on it, reminds me of Hunter! As you can see from this picture I've already put the floss tag to good use!

Can you believe, I've finished two more monograms (yup getting a little tired of these)? These are for the ladies at work this Christmas.

I finally got my hands on a copy of the JCS Ornament Issue. Is it just me? I have to say I'm very disappointed with the selection this year. There's not one ornament in there that I had to drop everything and stitch. Almost every year there's been something I just HAVE to stitch, not this year. Its not only the JCS Ornament Issue that isn't jumping out at me most of the new designs out there don't either. Am I jaded? Do I have too much stash? Or is it just the current trends that don't do it for me? Who knows. I can assure you I'm saving a fortune not having to run out and buy the latest charts.
I've got a busy weekend ahead of me! I'm hoping to squeeze in some time to stitch, and some time to study.

Floss tags are something I would like to have a go at in 2010 - that's a gorgeous one, you are lucky.

Beautiful floss tag. Yep, it looks like Hunter.
What are you up to this weekend?

Dani ... it's not just you ... I didn't even bother to buy the JCS ornament issue this year ... and the Halloween ornament issue didn't impress me overly much either though I did stitch the Glory Bee and Monsterbubbles charts. I think you hit the nail on the head though with the deep stash explanation. Most of us have enough charts and have been stitching for so many years that we have seen most of the trends come and go and it takes something genuinely original and creative to get our blood pumping ... mostly it's a case of "been there, seen that, bought the t-shirt."

By the by, did you receive the charts from my October giveaway ... when I saw the heading of your post, I was hoping you were reporting receipt of the charts I sent. I had delegated the duty of mailing them to my husband and even reminded him to fill out a customs form ... he can't remember at this point whether he did or not ... if you didn't receive the charts, I'll mail some other little something to apologize ... and I'll do the post office duty myself to make sure all is done properly this time.

What a lovely floss tag you received from Mylene:)

Love the monograms. I really like the colour you've used.

By the way I love your hair! It really suits you.

Great floss tag - it's a lovely design.

I wasn't overly impressed with the JCS ornie issue. There are some I quite like, and will probably stith, but they all use speciality threads, and I haven't been inspired by them enough to part with the threads. I did stitch the Scandianvian stitches design this week though - mostly because I wanted somehting simple to stitch while I had flu!

I love the floss tag. What a great gift!

It's possible that it might have to do with your present tastes. I go in spurts where I like things out and then find nothing. Then out of the blue, those things I didn't like before seem interesting. I have heard people haven't found the past few years JCS ornament issue that exciting. I like some of the ornies in the current and past issues. There were a few I didn't like and stitched at my LNS and like them once they were done. Granted we finished many of them differently that what was prescribed. Right now I'm finding cute patterns I want to do. I might not be so lucky in 2010. But I have enough stash acquired beyond life expectancy so I will still have things to stitch while I have a drought from new stuff.

I hope you find some patterns you like soon!

Nope, it's not just you...I was disappointed in the issue as well but since I've gotten them every year, it was one of those 'ok so if I don't get it, I'll regret it' sort of thing...maybe my tastes will change but this year I didn't want to do anything out of it either. :)

I am glad to hear it has arrived safely and that you like it.

Good to know i am not the only one who is disappointed over the JCS of this year. So far i only like two of all the ornaments that are in it.

I know what you mean about the JCS ornament issue...I have this year's, too, but am not swept away by any of it. But this obsessive librarian can't stand to see the set on the shelf missing an issue! LOL

Congrats on winning the lovely floss tag!
I think that those of us with sizable JCS Ornaments collections are seeing similar stuff coming back each year, and risk getting bored. I actively try to look at the ornies with a fresh eye, and there are several in there this year which I'd like to stitch when (if...) I have time - and one of them (Blackbird) did demand my dropping everything to make it straightaway.

Love the floss tag you got from Mylene. I thought quite a bit of the JCS this year seemed a bit "samey", but I've seen some that didn't grab me stitched up on peoples blogs and loved them, so I wonder if it was they way they photographed some of them that didn't do them any favours

Cute floss tag! And you are doing so good on your monograms, I can't believe how many you stitched up.

I wasn't to excited about the ornament issue either. The format was hard to get use to too.

lovely floss tag, the Mylene works are always so pretty.

Hi, Sweetie!! I don't know about the JCS issue..I just collect them, myself. :] What I do think is that it may be time to design your own ornaments! You can take motifs from designs/charts you already have and spin off those, chose different colors and different shapes around them or words...try creating your own smallies. I know you can do it, Dani!! Hugs, Deb

Gorgeous tag. Very pretty monograms too. :0)
There wasn't as much in the JCS mag that appealed to me this year as in previous ones but there's enough that I was happy I'd got it.

Such a lovely floss tag you won from Mylene. And your ornaments look so pretty. The ladies will be delighted.

Congrats on winning the lovely floss tag. I was disappointed in this years JCS issue as well, nothing screamed stitch me now :) A couple did interest me a bit but I have better ornament charts. Love all your monogrammes.
