Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, domo...domo

Day two at Cornwall Lift-Off...

This afternoon we went out to the midway, and I had to ride all the rides with Lindsay. I've been spun and hung upside down!

Before going back for tonight's concert Chrisanne, her Mom and I played balloon chasers tonight! We figured since I got shots of the balloons going up yesterday we'd get them coming down today. Luck was with us, as the winds didn't take the balloons across the river and into the U.S. Here are a few of today's shots.

After dropping Chrisanne's Mom back off home we went back out to the festival site. Since my camera batteries weren't dead tonight (I killed my battery last night!) I got to play a bit and got the Ferris wheel all lit up and spinning!

Chrisanne and I treated ourselves to a childhood treat... there was a booth selling candy and we both bought Fun-Dip! Who remembers Fun-Dip? Of course the best part is the stick not the powdered candy. Both of us got about half way through our Fun-Dips and realized, it was SOOOO sweet and how could we eat this when we were kids?
Tonight's show was Dennis DeYoung the former lead singer of Styx. He of course entertained us with Mr. Roboto! I happened to be up close when he pulled out Mr. Roboto's head!

We're both really looking forward to tomorrow night, its Theory of a Deadman! They played Ottawa at Bluesfest on Thursday night... for a whopping 42$ (after taxes, charges, etc). We've paid $20 for the whole weekend! That means we're going to see Theory of a Deadman for all fo $5!!! Can't wait!

Cornwall Lift-Off!

As my title states, guess where I am right now? Yup, in Cornwall with Chrisanne. Yesterday was the start of Cornwall Lift-Off the annual hot air balloon festival. Lift-Off is a great deal, its $20 for the whole weekend's concerts. I drove down from Ottawa yesterday after work.

When we got there a Santana tribute band was playing. Later that night was Glass Tiger... ahhh memories of grade 5! Unfortunately I killed my camera battery taking pictures of the balloons so I haven nothing from that show to share with you!

Soon I saw that the hot-air balloons were taking off. So left Chrisanne and Lindsay behind and disappeared for awhile with my camera. Here are a few of my shots of the balloons

A New Start

I've got a new start tonight, unfortunately I can't share it with you because its for Fair & Square round 8. Its cute and not my usual style, I hope my partner will like it!

Since I can't share with you any stitching I'll share a few more Depth of Field pictures from my photography assignment.

Shallow Depth of Field

Deep Depth of Field

Happy Dance!!!

Finally! A Happy Dance all for me! Just a quick post to show you that I did finish my Double Flip-Its last night at 1am!

Double Flip-Its
c2007 Lizzie*Kate
Stitched on 32ct Lambswool Linen
Stitched with GAST, WDW & DMC
Well, the scale didn't budge for me at WW last night. I'm upset about it as I was fairly vigilant with food and tracking last week. I'll just have to be more anal about it this week I suppose.

Create!

I had a great evening of stitching (except for that 40 minute doze in my chair with stitching still in hand) tonight! I finished Create on the Double-Flips and got a fantastic start on Live! Its just a shame I've got to get up for work in the morning, otherwise I'd be pulling a late night for sure!

Here's the entire piece to date

I forgot to share with you last night the lovely gifts I received from my guests this weekend. I got the STUNNING Royal Doulton/Franklin Mint plate from Kathy. Its called The Dragon Master. It currently has a spot of honor on the top of the entertainment unit so I can look at it while I'm stitching.

I also got from Lynn these very yummy threads! Not only do they look good, their colour names are just as yummy like gumball and berries and cream.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have two things to share with you : a happy dance for the Lizzie*Kate Double-Flips and a loss at the scales!

The Weekend's Over

Well, I had a wonderful weekend! I'm tired from it all, but enjoyed it.

It started with a busy day on Friday with several appointments. A fair chunk of the day was eaten up by one appointment where the doctor was running over an hour and a half behind! Unfortunately there's not much you can do about that, especially with the current state of the medical system and the lack of doctors. I'm glad I booked the day off, I never would of made it back to work part of the day.

I saw this interesting sign... now am I the only one who gets a laugh out of this... I know its potty humor but it gave me a giggle!

That evening Christin came home with me. I spent the evening doing the last bits of cleaning and making Saturday's dinner. I did manage some stitching Friday night.

Early afternoon Kathy and Beatrice arrived! It was nice for a change for some of my friends to come out and visit with me. As much as I enjoy hitting the road it can be tiring. So can having visitors LOL, its a lot of work cleaning the house, preparing food and the such. A little later Lynn stopped in to stitch with us as well. I did take some pictures, but a few of them didn't turn out too well, and well what I have isn't the most flattering angles so sorry ladies!

We had a little fun, and pulled out all of our Paradigm Lost's and Lynn is working on Cirque Des Circles. Here they are all together.

Yesterday I managed to finish up the stitching on Laugh, and today I got a good start on Create. I should be able to finish Create tomorrow and hopefully a good start on the final word, Live!

Its an A!!!!!

Wooo Hooo! Last night I got the e-mail with the comments and mark for my photography assignment (which is also your mark for the course). Ittts an A "Easily an A" are the teacher's exact words. Whew! I was so worried over this assignment and kept changing things up to the last minute which is why I finally just turned it in. So over the next few posts I'll start sharing the pictures I used with you.

I'm going to start with two of my depth of field shots tonight. These are of one of my clematis that is almost done blooming for the season.

Shallow Depth of Field (see how the background blurs out?)

Deep Depth of Field (see how the background is clear?)

Yesterday despite not being obliged to, because there was no meetings on Tuesday I stopped in at one of the Weight Watchers Centers to weigh in. After my crazy week, all the food I ate prepared by others, and no exercise at all, I wanted to get an idea of how I did. I'm not surprised, and I'm not upset about it either... I gained one pound. So I know what I need to do ... drop that pound this week!

Now we're a couple of days into July... I should set some goals right? Did I even set goals in June? I'll have to go back and look! Nope, the last goals I set were in May. Boy I was busy, I've been religiously setting goals for a few years now. Let's start fresh then :

July Goals
  1. Finish Double Flip-Its

  2. Finish Fair & Square rd. 8

  3. Stitch an ornament

  4. Finish Moonlight Guardian (being ambitious)
