Upcoming Weekend, Retro Photo Hunt

Tomorrow night is going to be busy and I'm not sure if I'm going to have time to blog so I thought I'd get a quick blog entry in tonight.  I won't share stitching progress pictures with you tonight but I will once the weekend is over.  Friday after work Christin and I will be heading down to Rebecca's place she's hosting a stitching day/weekend.  Most of the stitchers will be showing up for the day on Saturday Christin, Bonnie and I will be staying until Sunday.  I'd love to hang out until late Sunday but my Mum and I have a date!

Mum and I will be going out for dinner Sunday evening before going to the Roger Waters concert at The Scotia Bank Place.  He'll be performing Pink Floyd's The Wall in its entirety, from start to finish.  The last time he toured he was performing Dark Side of the Moon, we enjoyed the Montreal show so much that when they announced the Ottawa show we went again!  So there was no hesitation when this concert was announced!  I'm very much looking forward to it.

Here's a PhotoHunt from September 5 2009, the theme is "Orange"

I came across the General Lee this summer at a rest stop on the way back to Ottawa from Quebec City this summer, just past Trois-Riviers.  The funny thing is it wasn't the General Lee that caught my eye at first it was the "old school" cruiser sitting next to it!  Which upon closer inspection said "Hazard County" on it!  LOL!  Of course I had to whip my camera out of the trunk and take a few shots of this GREAT Dodge Charger!

After The Long Weekend

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend, and I hope my Canadian friends enjoyed their weekends too!

It started out with having dinner with my friends Bonnie and Blair at one of my favourite spots for Fish n'Chips in Eastern Ontario!  Bonnie and Blair went off to the Ottawa Senators home opener and stayed with us until Sunday morning.

Saturday morning I woke up to a bit of a shock at the scale!  I weighed myself to see if I should go to my WW meeting, I had lost 4lbs since Tuesday morning!  I did blog about it if you're interested.  Needless to say I rushed off to my WW meeting with Bonnie in tow to go weigh in for the month.  I am finally back to my goal weight!

That afternoon Bonnie and I got out and enjoyed the gorgeous fall day and went for a walk with our cameras.  Here are some of my shots from the walk.

The bikers were out enjoying the day!

Milkweed pods splitting open and spreading its seeds

Cattle corn waiting to be harvested

The first Jack-O-Lantern for the season!

I have pretty much focused what stitching time I've had on Art Deco Spirits.  I finally finished up all the DMC on the Fire block and am now getting the metallics in.  Now that I can see the end of this block, I want to work on it more!  I've also made a small start on my October ornament, 'Tis Red from La-D-Da.

Stitching, Sunsets and Stripes... Oh My!

Its been a busy/hectic week (again!) I ended up teaching Taekwon-Do two nights in a row this week which left me with no stitching time the first half of the week.  I was completely drained by Wednesday and crashed for a good 4 hours.  I have found some stitching time here and there.

Here is where Art Deco Spirits stands as of this evening.  Its a long weekend so I have three days of stitching coming my way!  I'll be sharing part of this weekend with Bonnie, we're going to stitch while "the boys" (her hubby and my other half) watch movies and play video games.

We have had some fantastic sunsets the last two weeks!  I wanted to share a few of the shots from my property.

This was tonight and I saw this spectacular red ray of light just shining down!  Wonder what it was shining over?

Also I forgot I had taken some pictures of Hunter lately, he had curled up in the sun on my red comforter that was draped on the floor.  He was just so adorable, you'd think I had set him up in a little studio!

Its the end of the week which means its time for another PhotoHunt!  This week's theme is stripes!

Before I looked up this week's theme I had taken a picture of the new slippers/socks I had just bought for puttering around the house.  They were so cute and a fantastic bargain ($2) that I picked up two pairs!  I find when my feet get cold the rest of me is cold, and these would fit the bill nicely!

Run For The Cure 2010

Today myself, my partner Todd, and my best friend Christin participated in the CIBC Run For The Cure at the Ottawa run site. This is an event that is run across Canada every year in the hopes of raising money for Breast Cancer Research and raising awareness. There were 9,000 participants in Ottawa who raised 1.6M dollars, my final total this year is $1,430! I surpassed my goal of $1,000 and would like to thank each and every one of you who as supported me both financially and with well wishes!

I have written a slightly longer more involved post over at my other blog, please visit Battle of the Bulge to read a little more and see a few more pictures from the day.  Christin has also written a nice little post about the day too!

Almost Raised $1,500 For Breast Cancer Research

Tomorrow morning is my 3rd CIBC Run For the Cure (5K walk/run... I'm running)!  I've been fundraising for the event, as of this evening my total stands at $1,410.00 if you're interested in helping me reach the $1,500 mark you can do so by donating online HERE.

I hope to have a nice post about the run sometime later on Sunday!

October Stitchy Goals, This Week's Progress & PhotoHunt

This week I took a little more me time here and there and actually found some time to stitch!  I actually made myself stop for a change and took a night to myself on Wednesday, instead of going to the gym, for a run, or Taekwon-Do.  I even backed out on a Silpada (jewellery) party my good friend was having.  Instead I went home and just RELAXED!  You know you're burning the candle at both ends when you're feeling exhausted and several people at work say to you in the morning (after you've already been up for over an hour) boy you really look like you need that coffee (actually it was a lg steeped tea from Tim Hortons).

Due to this evening of relaxing and being self indigent I do feel like my current block on Art Deco Spirits is finally coming together!  I haven't really pulled out any of my other project this week and I think I'll stick with ADC this weekend.

This week's PhotoHunt theme is : Letters

Here is another one of the many, many, many pictures I took during my Dominican Experience in March 2010!  On our day trip to Santo Domingo we visited a small school for young underprivileged children on the edge of the slums of Simon Bollivar.  We delivered a suitcase full of packages from another school in Ottawa to the kids of this school.  They each received a letter, portrait, and treat.  This little boy is "reading" (I doubt he knew any English) his letter

WIP Progress and Retro Photo Hunt

Its the middle of the week, I know, I know and I'm finally sharing my weekend stitching progress.  I managed to have a fairly quiet and low key weekend (I know rare for this girl).  I took advantage of having some time to stitch and time to just rest!  So let's get down to business!

I worked on several projects this weekend.

I spent the majority of my waking time working on Art Deco Spirits, I've finally gotten through those huge blocks of white, black and grey.  Of course I've moved onto more grey.

I gave Enchantment of Winter a little bit of attention as well.  I got a little tired of counting around and putting in gold confetti here and there so I pulled out the lovely purple silk and worked with that instead.

I also had a travel project, it really wasn't moving very quickly and didn't look like much until after a little needle time this weekend.  This is a class piece from the Creativ Festival given by Jennifer Aikman-Smith of Dragon Dreams when I last went a few years ago.  I'll give you more details on my next post, right now I'm too lazy to get up and go get it!  I have way too many class pieces waiting to be stitched up. But then who doesn't have a lot of projects waiting to be started?

Now how about a retro photo hunt?  This is from the end of August 2009, "Surprise"

In March of this year my friend Ann turned 60 and with my help and that of a few others her husband was able to throw her a fantastic surprise party!  Ann was shocked and overjoyed when she saw that her family had made the 3 hour drive to be there too!  Ann's reaction was the BEST surprise party reaction I have ever witnessed!  Here she is with one of her brothers.

My run is coming up father than I thought it ever would now, its this Sunday!  I am very proud to say I have surpassed my fundraising goal this year!  My total is over $1100.00 all going to Breast Cancer research!  Thank you to many of you fantastic readers who have made online donations!  There is still plenty of time to make a donation if you wish!  Click HERE to go to my personal donation page.
