No Stitching To Show

I was hoping to share with you a finished JBW stocking, but my head is starting to get pretty bad, so I'm going to most likely give up and go lie down.  I'm down to the foot on the stocking, and if I didn't have this migraine I would definitely get it done by bedtime!

I've had a very full and busy weekend!  Today I judged and competed in the Capital Cup Friendship tournament.  I haven't stepped foot into a tournament since 2007, I don't think it much longer after that tournament that I tore the ligaments in my foot and ended up taking 1.5 years off of Taekwon-Do!

Mr. Marin, school owner giving a last minute pep-talk to the students.

Our school was very well represented with about 40 students competing from age 5- 60 (ish)!  We had students competing in obstacle course (4-6 yrs), team patterns, individual patterns and sparring.

All the team pattern competitors

Paige and I with our GOLD medals!

I competed in team patterns with Paige and Jason (my partners in crime from a post earlier this week).  Mr. Marin, our head instructor on Saturday afternoon told Paige and I how he would really like to have a team in the tournament.  So Paige and I got our acts together, planned things out, called Jason told him he was doing it and that we'd meet up in the morning before the tournament to run it through a few times.  Man, did we KILL it!!!  We came in 1st place!

Sadly I didn't do so well in individual patterns.  It was going very well, until the last 4 moves in Sam-il and I froze!  I forgot the last 4 moves!  Argh!  So I returned to jumbi, bowed to the judges and that was that.  I ended up with a bronze medal.

A Happy Dance and a New Start

Sanman Freebie
Stitched on : 32ct Queen Ann's Lace Lugana
Stitched with : DMC 115

Just after midnight last night I finished up my little San Man freebie.  I rushed trying to finish it before midnight so it could make last night's blog deadline but no joy.  So here it is for today's entry!!!

Despite having a busy Saturday I had time for a new start!  If you're a vigilant blog reader you will recognize this as one of my recent acquisitions.  As usual I don't often follow the colour "suggestions" I actually did the opposite of the model.  Instead of red on white I'm doing these JBW stockings white on red!

Here's today's PhotoHunt, the theme is "Alive"
I never feel more alive than when I'm off exploring the world with my camera!

Friday! Friday! Friday! Friday! Friday!

Every Monday morning I get up, hoping that magically over the weekend I've won the lottery with the girls in the pool at work.  Hasn't happened yet, so then I just start anticipating the end of the week, Friday.  Don't get me wrong, I like my job, I enjoy my job.  Often I think about how much more I can be doing with and in my life if I didn't have to unlock my library door each day at 7:30am!

Here's another retro PhotoHunt, the theme on September 26, 2009 was "twisted"

This was one of the many fantastic mosaic designs depicting religious stories on the floor of the Cathedral at St. Anne de Beaupre just outside of Quebec City.  It is the story of Adam & Eve with the snake twisted around the apple tree.

More Than 13!

Today/tonight I found some time to stitch!  I got in a few stitches at lunchtime, a few before Taekwon-Do class, and a few here before blogging.

Not Only Can I Stitch I Can Kick Too!

Many of you know, and it should be obvious from the title of this blog that my other passion is Taekwon-Do (ITF Taekwon-Do to be exact).  I have been training since 1997 with a few breaks here and there due to life or injuries.  I am currently a 3rd Degree Black Belt and an instructor for our "Little Tigers" program 4-6 year olds.

Black Belts from Almonte Taekwon-Do, Black Belt Excellence, and Winning Circle

This weekend there's an upcoming local tournament, normally one school puts on a tournament but we're trying something different to be a bi-annual event.  This is a friendship tournament being put on by three schools together.  Tonight we had a meeting of all the black belt judges from the three schools.  It was really neat to interact with students from other schools.  I'm looking forward to the tournament this Sunday, and for the first time since 2007 I'll be competing and judging.

It sounds like it'll be a well run tournament.

Afterwards a few of my classmates and myself had some fun with the camera!

Retro PhotoHunt

Well I have absolutely no stitching to share with you!  Since Sunday night I've gotten in about 13 stitches... that's right I just sat here and counted them.  Pretty pathetic right?  I've got a busy week ahead so don't expect any stitching reports until at least Thursday night!

So we'll move right onto my other passion which is photography.

Here's the PhotoHunt from September 19, 2009 the theme is "upside-down"

Awww, look its Hunter... The Preciousness doing his rolling upside-down aren't I adorable pose!  Have I ever mentioned how much I ADORE this little boy-cat?

I Dare You!

Did you know that the month of November is NatBloPoMo?  Yes, that's right, National Blog Posting Month!  The gist of it is to post one blog entry every day for the month of November.  The last few years I've always thought this was a very cool idea but I've often forgotten about it, thus not participated.  I haven't joined anything official or signed up to any website to do this (don't really want to), but I'm going to try and do it anyhow.

So I DARE you to join me!  I know Bonnie is going to give it a go!

Seeing as its the beginning of November its time to talk stitching goals.

I'd say we need a picture to go with this post!  Another "retro" PhotoHunt?  This one is from September 12, 2009, the theme is "Electric"

This was a tough PhotoHunt to find something appropriate.  I came across this photo from a few years ago, of these running shoes dangling from a power line.
