Today's start is a little chart/fabric kit I bought last fall. The colours caught my eye and I thought, boy am I going to enjoy stitching this! I'm glad it was a one day start/finish!
A Little Christmas
c2012 Lizzie*Kate
Stitched on provided fabric with DMC, WDW and GAST
Sadly that wasn't the case, I really didn't enjoy this stitch at all. I'm pretty sure its the floss colours, the picture on the cover was much more vibrant. I know that the recommended flosses were overdyed, I used the colours I had on hand and substituted for DMC when I didn't. I'm not sure if that's what made the difference, why I didn't like it. I think at some point I'll finish this as a little pillow and gift it to someone.
Alas, my holidays are over and I'm up early back to work, and back to the gym tomorrow!
It is a cute ornament! I some times have trouble with colors too. I just did half a large border over because of color problems!Hope you have a good week with going back to work.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's that the colors are too diverse --- you have some that are traditional (the red and green) and some that are modern (aqua and light green).
ReplyDeleteBut, that said, it's still a cute design. Someone will love it.
that's really a very cute ornament. You start early!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany
Such a cute ornament finish, congrats on the one day start/finish! I don't know what the cover picture looked like, but the colours look great to me!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Dani!
ReplyDeleteWell I think it looks pretty. Perhaps it will grow on you. Congratulations on the finish!
ReplyDeleteit's cute! maybe if you play a bit with the fabric used for the finishing you will come to love it
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and hope your return to work and gym is not too hard!
I like it. Perhaps it'll grow on you after finishing.
ReplyDeleteI like it. Perhaps it'll grow on you after finishing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sweet stitch, at least you got it done in one day if you don't enjoy it so much - at least it didn't drag out!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emma. Good for you getting back to the gym.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a lovely finish and quick too.
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn't love the finished result, Dani, but I think it looks very cute! Haven't seen this one before...
ReplyDeleteWell, I think it's very pretty - congrats on the fast finish.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this photo - I love it.
ReplyDeleteI do like all the colors and I see your darling beads and tiny heart charm. You know because of one of your other posts last year I ordered a Lizzie Kate Christmas chart - Floras McSample's 2012. I may have to order this one too. I really like it. love Annette
Congrats on another finish Dani. I think it is adorable.

It's a lovely finish, you've done really well with you challenge starts
ReplyDeleteStarted and finished! Well done :D
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate when that happens? It's so deflating. I had that same issue with a L*K small not too long ago. I used *some* overdyed and some DMC and, wow, the DMC options given DID NOT match the overdyes at all. I guess you have to stick with one or the other. :(
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn't enjoy the stitching. It is a cute ornament!
ReplyDeleteSorry that you didn't like stitching this one. But the result is so sweet anyway. Sometimes it's just the colour combo that doesn't loook like we expected it, or it's that the photo on the pattern looks so very different.
ReplyDeleteHope your return o work went smoothly. Nice finish, I like it.
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn't like the end result. It's a lovely finish, I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteI do hate it when that happens. Michael always tries to tell me it still looks good, but I usually can't get over it. But to put myself in his place, as someone who hasn't seen the chart pic, I think it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great! Congrats on another great finish.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely! It is rather disappointing when the colors don't quite match up with expectations, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you didn't use the recommended colors. I stitched this last year and framed it as suggested. I generally like vibrant colors but this was beautiful. The colors are subtle and really lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis turned out lovely Dani! I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy stitching it. I have this one somewhere in my stash and will have to look at it more closely.
