The Week's Progress

Its been a very long week with the extreme temperatures and humidity we've had here in the Ottawa area.  Temperatures have been in the mid 30's all week long and it certainly has taken a toll on everyone.  I've not worked out this week because driving home in my greenhouse on wheels (aka no A/C in the car) left me feeling ill after the 25 minute drive.  I pretty much came home most evenings and went right to bed for a few hours!  My appetite has suffered as well, and I've not been able to eat proper meals just a little here and there.

I have been stitching a little bit this week, and here's where Celestial Dragon stands before my weekend of stitching!  Tomorrow Lynn is hosting a day of stitching and hopefully I'll get a lot done... instead a lot of eating and talking!

Things have not gone well on the weight front again.  Last week saw me at a stay the same on the scale, and that I could accept.  This week, I was up 2.5 lbs again, so I'm back 6.5 lbs over my goal weight.  So the battle continues.

I'm looking forward to Lynn's tomorrow!

CD is going to be done pretty soon now. It sure is looking good.

We were in Philadelphia during the heat wave. YIKES! It actually melted the safety striping off the car door.

  2. CD is looking wonderful. You're on the home stretch now. Try and stay cool. We treat the heat here like others treat winter. We just don't go out in it unless we have too.

  8. Seems to be a little cooler now, plus I've got central air to keep us comfy. That way we can get lots of stitching done! See you soon.

  10. The Celestial Dragon is coming along wonderfully ... hope the backstitching and beading moves along just as quickly.

As to the weight gain, are you drinking a lot of fluids other than water ... remember, iced tea or coffee, seltzer and other beverages contain caffeine and sodium ... which, in turn can cause water retention.

  11. Oh, Dani--I can't imagine driving that far with no AC!! Hopefully, the heat wave has broken by now--it really has been horrid...

Looks like your next posting will be your completed CD--can't wait to see it :) Enjoy your stitching get-together!

  12. Dani, Don't lose hope on the weight front. I have recently started this process as you can see on my blog (nsaprof.blogspot.com). This heat wave has been tough and it is especially difficult to be active. My strategy this week was to go for my walk at 7am while the temperature was still reasonable. there was no way I would do it any later.

CD is coming along beautifully. You have the dragon stitched soon. Perhaps even later today and then you can move on to all the other stitching that you mentioned had t be done to it. As always I look forward to seeing your progress.

I hear you about the heat and it's not as hot here as it is for you over there. It's 27 degrees here today and it's too much for me:(

  16. The dragon is getting oh so close to the end and looking better all the time.

You know some weeks are up and some are down in the weight department. Just try to be a good girl and I'm sure things will improve again.

We're finally having a rainy day here in DC and bit cooler after the heat wave. Quite welcome even if it does mess up the weekend.

  22. Such weird temps. Here in Texas where it is usually 104+ about now, it has been in the 80's, sometimes the 70's. And rain, rain, rain.
The weight gain probably has something to do with the heat. I know I retain a lot of fluids when it is unbearably hot. Keep your chin up! The stitching looks wonderful!

  28. CD is looking fabulous - can't wait for a post-stitching weekend update!

I'm sure the weight will sort itself out - just keep doing the things that you know work for you. I imagine not exercising so much because of the heat didn't help... Remember there are 3 kind of people in the world - those who are just naturally thin, those who aren't but don't do much about it, and those who make an effort - not the easiest group to belong to, but the most inspiring (IMO).

  30. CD is looking great Dani! Soon you'll be on to the netting. I like the new blog too and I almost got the same background.

Don't get discouraged about the weight issue. I have watched you work so hard to lose it and you've done amazing! Even on good days our weight goes up and down by several pounds. You know that though. Keep it up girl! You're amazing in my book!
