Ornaments & Ornamentification

Wow what happened there?!?  Life suddenly got very hectic, very busy and I've not even had time to myself lately!  I've eaten out five days out of seven and its probably not helped my weight at all!  I've not weighed in this week and I'm thinking of skipping it I'm exhausted!  I've not done an iota of exercise either, the ordering of our new treadmill has turned into a circus and we still don't have it despite ordering it on December 3rd.  The only time I got into Taekwon-Do this week was tonight to teach.

So like I've said not a lot of time, not a lot of me time and far too many late nights!  What time I've managed to grab I've dedicated towards ornamentifying the JBW ornaments I stitched for the girls at work next week is our last week before the holidays and being off for two weeks.

Not only did I ornamentify but I received this charming fellow from Kathy in the mail on Tuesday!  Before she left I asked her to do an ornament exchange with me.  My ornament is now winging its way to Kathy, I sent it just this week... a little late.  I'm such a procrastinator when it comes to mailing things!  Thanks Kathy I love it!

The theme this week is "Lights"

I took this picture at the Timberhouse Bed and Breakfast I think it was either in January or March of this year.  I was just trying to be "artistic"... it wasn't until I looked at the picture later on my computer that I realized what a cool effect I had managed to capture.  There were about 6 vases with tall pillar candles in them all lit up and they all managed to reflect and multiply on the vase of this one candle.  Isn't it just too cool?

Its been a busy week and not much stitching has happened!  Maybe I'll have some stitchy-like things to share with you tomorrow???

Great Postie Day... Thank You Bette!

Bette and I have been reading and enjoying each other's blog for years now!  We do have some similar tastes when it comes to stitching.  Its funny when you read someone's blog for so long, you feel like you get to know them.  This past March I was lucky enough to get to meet Bette in person!  I had gone to Southwestern Arizona to visit with Kathy for March Break.  We planned a little trip up to Phoenix/Mesa to check out the Attic.  Bette got in touch with me and we made arrangements to meet at the Attic!  We had a wonderful afternoon!  Lots of shopping, eating and gabbing, its too bad it couldn't last any longer!

A short while ago Bette e-mailed me asking for my mailing address, said she had a "little something" to send me.  Well what a wonderful surprise landed for me at the General Store (this is where I pick up my mail)!  Bette sent me a Michael Powell Kit... who we both adore!  A beaded needle threader/picker, and an adorable magnetic ruler with a kitty cat!  Thank you Bette for a more than generous gift!  I didn't expect Christmas to start so early!

Its not often you get a chance to meet a fellow blogger, so if you get a chance... don't let it pass by!  It was so nice to get to meet Bette and I hope our paths will cross again!

As its December I'm also making plans for January and 2012 in general. On January 1st Christin, Bonnie, Tracey, Bonnie and I will be starting a SAL. This year's choice is Ink Circle's Four Seasons Mandalas. I'll be stitching mine over two on 40ct. I am also thinking of doing the 2012 Crazy Challenge! Yup crazy! I've been thinking about which pieces I want to start! I'm even thinking each of the Seasonal Mandalas should count as one start each. The rest will probably be smaller projects.

Finished a Page!

Sadly I couldn't settle down to my stitching very well this weekend, so not as much progress was made as I would of liked!  I did get one of my stitching goals taken care of, and that was finishing page 4 on Enchantment of Winter, I got a small start on the miles and miles of backstitching tonight as well.  I haven't done it yet but I'll have to tackle some of the backstitching on that over one section!

Today was the Santa Clause Parade in town and my Taekwon-Do school puts a float (well actually its a trailer) in every year.  We were lucky this year its was a balmy 8c, much warmer than last year!  It was threatening rain, but it held off.  The turnout of kids for our float and crowds for the parade was fantastic!

PhotoHunt, Finishing & A HD ... Oh My!

Its Saturday, its PhotoHunt Day!  Today's theme is "Ripped"

This summer my friend Tracey and I got to try water skiing for the first time.  Oh what an adventure that was!  Poor Tracey, she went into the water after the rope was ripped out of her hands!

I've got two stitching items to share with you tonight!  This morning I took a little time and did the finishing on yet another ornament.  This lovely heart I stitched up last year, its a freebie from San Man, sorry I don't have a link or any other info for you.

I also had a Happy Dance tonight!  I started this just a day or two ago, I'm just loving Sharon's (aka Daffycat) reindeer designs.  They stitch up so nicely and look so cute!

Today Todd and I went out and we bought a new treadmill!  Its a Nordictrack, and so much nicer than my old one which was pretty basic.  We won't get it for a week, as the store doesn't keep them in stock, luckily we'll be able to pick it up closer to home instead of going back into the city.  We were hoping to be able to bring one home today, both Todd and I agree we can't let our running slack off but I can wait another week.  In the meantime I'll go to Taekwon-Do a little more often and hopefully not running won't affect the scale this week.

Starting To Do A Little Finishing

December is here!  Only 24 days until Christmas and I've barely scratched the surface in terms of getting ready.  I've got three gifts out of many bought so far... yup not ready.  Today I had a little time to start a little finishing, I've got a whole lot of Ornamentifying to do!

One of today's finished ornaments I can't share, Kathy and I are doing a personal exchange.  I now need to get it into the mail (huge procrastinator when it comes getting to the postie).  I hope she likes it!

The second ornament I thought was perfect to try Sharon, Daffy Cat's beaded ribbon edging tutorial.  I thought it was such a pretty effect.  It really wasn't that hard to do, just a little on the time consuming side.  However as I got towards the end I started to get a little quicker.  I'll be doing this finish again!
