Happy St. Patrick's Day!
This little festive guy... we actually spotted him down a side street in St. Augustine. A few days early for him to put in appearance.
First a quick Weight Watchers update! Tonight I went to the WW meeting here in Jacksonville, Florida. There happened to be a meeting on the same day and time as my meeting at home only 3 miles from where I'm staying. I have to say the meeting leader was very friendly in welcoming me. Good news I lost 0.7lbs this week which puts my loss at just over 60lbs! Yay! Its taken me awhile to get here. Now only the last 10 (or 9.8 if you want to be technical) to go! I think I must of done so much walking since I landed on Saturday that it counteracted the eating out (which included my first Big Mac in over a year!).
So this is my St. Augustine report... from Sunday, sorry its been a few days since I blogged. Last night I was absolutely exhausted after a full day at the outlet malls (so no Monday pictures... just shopping) and the very late night on Sunday!
This is the old jail... why is it every time I go somewhere I end up at the Jail???? (see my March Break 2007 trip!)
The first area we got off was the pedestrian street, chock full of people and shops. I honestly didn't take too many pictures down here because it was a gorgeous day and so many people were out and about.
Here's the oldest wooden school house.
Here's the oldest wooden school house.
A doorway I thought was cool
The old city wall
Various churches
The college (used to be a resort for the wealthy during the late 1800's early 1900's)
A building
The cannon firing at the fort (preceded by musket firing)
The Old Spanish Fort
We left St. Augustine around 4pm that day and booted it down to Cape Canaveral to see the shuttle launch. (I've added a few more pictures to my previous post so don't forget to check that out!)
My next entry will be all about today's trip to the Jacksonville Zoo where I took over 530 pictures!

YEA! I can't believe you are within 10 pounds of goal! Good for you, you are an inspiration. See you Friday!
So proud for you on the weight loss! That is just amazing and awesome!
Thanks for sharing the pics with us! It looks like you are having a great time!! I just love the old school house and that door way you liked, I love it!
You have brought back so many memories for me. I lived in St. Augustine & Jacksonville for a year when I was 17. I loved it there. As soon as I saw the street with the little character on it I recognized it.
While you are there, see if you can find the fountain of youth that Ponce DeLeon couldn't find and send me some of that water.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Great photos of St. Augustine and what makes it special.
Congrats on the weight loss.... and thanks for the great pics of St. Augustine. It really makes me wish I could visit. I too would have loved to see a space shuttle launch. I think I like your bucket list.
Congratulations on the weight loss! Great pictures too! Did I say I love St. Augustine? Thanks for sharing!
All the pics look wonderful :) A Space Shuttle launch is on my "to do" list too!
My best friend's son graduated from that college.
Beautiful pictures.
Looks like you are having a great trip. Your wonderful photos have really brought back my memories of visiting St Augustine in 2004, in fact I'm sure I have an almost identical shot of that school house!!
Those are some fantastic pictures! Looks like you really had a fun time!!
Lovely photos and congrads on your weight loss.
hehehe. It's so funny to see your St. Augustine pictures. Just like Ausable Chasm... I have some that are almost the same as yours! We took the same trolley ride about 3 years ago for my birthday. Looks like you had fun! I hope you enjoyed the shuttle launch as well. I couldn't see it from my house that night as it was a little cloudy... But I love the night launches the most. They are soooo beautiful!
I love the pics of the churches and the fort. You should do Fort Mackinaw sometime here in Michigan. You'd like that. The DH and I saw a shuttle launch back in 97 (when I was first pregnant) and stumbled on it by pure accident! I'm SO glad we stayed to watch it. It was a night launch too and it was AWESOME. The sonic boom was so cool. Never will forget it. Have fun!
St Augustine sure brought back memories. I went to Flagler College for a year. My first room was just next to the tower on the right in your photo. I saw a liftoff from Cape Kennedy that year too (not saying which year tho). Then I moved downstairs and faced the fountain - fortunately down wind most of the time.
The Castillo was a favorite of mine to visit - and your photo with the porch overhanging the street? Upstairs was the Milltop - a place where we used to gather and sing and just have a good time.
Thanks for bringing back some terrific memories!
Congrats on the loss.
Looks like you are having lots of fun.
Congrats on your weight loss! Happy Dance!!
It's so nice seeing all the beautiful pics and hearing about your nice vacation:)
Looks like fun, beautiful photos
Sounds like you are having a great time Dani.
Hurray!!!! You certainly do deserve this trip to Florida! And I hope you are buying all sorts of beautiful new clothes in celebration of your WW success. The pictures are great and I'm so glad you are enjoying yourself!
Awesome pictures, as were your earlier pictures of the shuttle launch. I've been to Florida, but never got past Disney/Epcot/SeaWorld. I'd love to visit again and see a bit more. Congratulations on the additional weight loss, you've done fantastic and are so close to being to goal.
Sue
Great pictures, particularly the ones with the very old houses. I love to visit historical places, they have so much to tell us.
