Good Day / Bad Day

Monday, bah why are Mondays never awesome days?

Today I started out the day with a headache which by the afternoon moved onto the realm of migraine.  I didn't get to the gym because of this, I came home and went to bed for a few hours.

On my way home, I picked up the mail and there was a lovely surprise from Edgar!  I had won his blogiversary draw and he sent me this WONDERFUL parcel!  He's stitched me this wonderful sheep pinkeep, which is perfectly finished.  There were also some fantastic goodies as well!  A postcard of San Francisco, some lovely inscents, ribbon, sheepie fabric (which Edgar backed the pinkeep with), and some delectable chocolates!  Edgar, how did you know I love that type of mint chocolate!!!  I have been very reserved (remember 3 lbs to go) and ate only 3, honestly I could of demolished the whole box!

After my nap I got up and felt well enough to go to TKD, we had a great, sweaty class!  I probably should of stayed home though... because on my way from the dojang to the house I hit a deer with my car!  In 18 years of driving I have never hit a deer!  Now don't go worrying or freaking out, I am fine, and by flashlight my car looks okay.  I didn't hit the deer full on I think I glanced its head with the edge of my front bumper (the deer is dead).  I did my best to avoid the deer but alas no luck, despite breaking and going into the other lane (there was no oncoming traffic).  I pulled over onto the shoulder, threw my four way flashers on and took a moment to collect myself.  I pulled out my trusty mag-lite out of my glove box and checked out my car.  There was no apparent damage to the front bumper, the headlights still work (though the passenger side one is pointing a little down and in), no flat tire, no leaking fluids.  So I drove back home.  Todd's going to take another look in the car in the light of day.

I think what frustrated me the most, is here I am on this country road in the dark.  There had been vehicles behind me in the distance and none of them stopped (not sure if they really noticed me hit the deer but they should of noticed the breaking and swerving and pulling over).  Also while I was pulled over with my four ways on and checking out the car with a flashlight a couple of more cars went by ... still no one stopped.  What has happened to human kindness?

Glad to hear that you're okay but definitely do get your car checked out. There is all sorts of stuff behind the bumpers and if it's damaged, your car will have to be repaired (I learned this after I was rear-ended).

Wow, that's scary. Glad to hear you're okay... It blows my mind that noone would stop. I wish people would think "What if that was my daughter/sister/friend?"... I bet they'd stop then!

BTW ~ love Edgar's parcel, the fabric is too cute!!

Good to hear you're fine, sorry to hear that it's not only in Holland people are behaving that way and selfish.

first: Edgar gifts are beautiful, and
second, I'm glad you are well, unfortunately we live
in a world a little insane, do not know how to react
people, or if it is really an accident, mistrust and
indifference to others, has meant that no one
solidarity with anyone, it's sad, very sad.

Well, I love all the photos of the good part of the day ... I wish you joy of it all.

As to the bad part, glad you are okay and hope the car is too. But pardon this NYC born-and-bred girl's cynicism and paranoia ... but in this day and age, maybe you ought to be grateful that no one stopped upon seeing a lone woman on the side of the road.

What a day! Glad you had some nice gifts and good work-out. But sorry for the migraine (I had a headache yesterday too.. to much moving between the heat outside and the AC inside I think). And hitting a deer must have been pretty traumatic... thank goodness you are ok and were able to drive home.

I have hit three deer in my 25 years of driving... they are fast! And, they just jump out in front of you. I only had bad damage the first time, a slightly crumpled hood. The second time there was just a tiny bit of paint mucked up and the third time there was no damage at all because the poor little thing was actually hit by the car in front of me and basically just bounced off my tire. It does rattle you to hit a living creature. I'm sorry not one person stopped to at least ask if you were ok.

Sorry to read about your accident, I'm sure it must have been upsetting. Do get your car well checked up (and the light straightened): better safe than sorry.

Lovely pinkeep from Edgar!

And I thought I had a bad Monday! I'm really sorry to hear about your accident. I grazed a deer once (it was ok) and mentally it took me awhile to get over it. I was watching for that limping deer for a few weeks afterwards.

Anyways, I'm really glad to hear that you're ok and I hope nothing major is wrong with your car. Tuesday can only get better!

PS: Very cute pinkeep from Edgar!

I'm glad to hear that you're okay after your run in. Shakes you up a bit though, doesn't it? Good thing you only caught the end of him/her. It's amazing how heavy they are and how much damage they can do with only a glancing blow. From the sounds of it though, your car did well too.
When I hit one this spring, it had been 19yrs of commuting without an incident. I had to replace the bumper, headlight and windshield washer reservoir.

I love the sheep pinkeep Edgar did for you! And the goodies look pretty awesome too.

Your gift package is lovely. Really like the sheepy fabric. So glad you're ok. When we lived in PA we avoided the back roads for that very reason. Won't hurt to have your car checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Love the pin keep and all of the other goodies.
Be always in stitches.

Oh, Dani, I'm sure hitting the deer was a very upsetting incident--just glad you are okay. Amazing that the car survived with no damage, too! Unbelievable that not one person stopped!

Great gift from Edgar--the sheep is so sweet...

Hope today is going better for you :)

Thankfully you are okay, but it is truly a sad state of affairs that people are so insular and can't be bothered to help others.

Your win from Edgar is adorable!

Oh my word. I'm glad you're ok. Real shame about the deer, but better it than you :o(

Lovely gift you received.

I'm glad you are OK...
The answer to your question..My opinion society has become paranoid and won't stop for anything anymore. Too bad that has happened too because you could easily have needed help. It is why I now carry a cell phone with me.
Hugs see you soon.

I'm sorry to hear that you weren't feeling good. That package from Edgar was great!

Oh bugger! Why do these nasty things always happen in multiples (not that there is a GOOD time to hit a deer).

Hope you are feeling better soon and that the car isn't too bad.

The gift from Edgar was adorable. Love the sheepie fabric.

I'm glad that you are okay. Deer can be tough to spot ahead of time and if you don't, it's really hard to get out of their way. I'm stunned that no one stopped and asked if everything was okay, though. That's disappointing.

Glad that you are OK. We don't have deer, but we do have kangaroos and they tend to hop in front of cars quite unexpectantly.

Lovely gift from Edgar.
