Long Weekend -- Day 4, the last day!

Well, this is it... the end of my extra long weekend! I shall enjoy every moment of this last day! Its been nice having a weekend of little to no commitments, and no housecleaning on the horizon (the house really needs it but for now I'm ignoring it). Paradigm Lost has been a joy to work on and I'll be putting in one more day's work on it (today).

After today I'm sad to say I have to put away PL for a few days! *Sniffle, sniffle* The deadline for Fair & Square round 12 is looming... actually its next Monday! Ooops how did time get away from me... oh right that darned Top Secret Project! This will be the last time I participate in Fair & Square, I've enjoyed the exchange... I think I've done about 10 rounds but I find I'm stitching the basic same type of designs over and over! I'm getting a little bored/tired of it, and wish I would of gotten partners with a wide range of tastes/requests. As much as Prarie Schooler and Cottage Country Needleworks, etc. is all the rage I've come to a point I just can't stand the stuff anymore! This primitive/simplistic stage that stitching is going through really isn't me (it never was), I've bought so little stash over the last two years, because this is all that's being put out on the market. So I'll be delving deep into my own stash and pulling out stuff I've bought over the years that I just love and keep meaning to stitch. I know styles and fads come in cycles and my tastes will come back around again in popularity.

I'll just get off of my soapbox now...

Aren't these long weekends fantastic? I am enjoying a three day weekend, but it is going to marred by my (yuck) Dr's appointment this afternoon. I considered putting it off til next week, but then I would be worried all week. Just as soon get it out of the way now!
PL is looking great and coming along really quickly!
Enjoy your last day!

Hi Dani--I absolutly LOVE your PL. Your are getting close to finishing. I also saw that you did Noah's Sub and the Castle a while back. Seeing yours finished motivated me to pull both of mine back out and get going on them. I enjoy visiting your blog. Thanks for sharing your talent!! Take Care

PL looks awesome!!

(I'm with you on the prim stuff, too! Only good thing is that it saves the stash $$! And, because I stitch much slower than you, saves me becoming too backlogged, LOL!)

I have no idea what the "in" thing is and I'm happy about that. I just do what I want to do! Like my Long Dog....yours is absolutely wonderful, Dani! Just great!

Paradise Lost is looking great :). I'm with you on the primitive type of patterns ... they don't catch my attention as much as some other patterns. Can't wait to see what you finish on day four for PL.

PL is looking great - aren't 4 day weekends fantastic? Shame you are leaving F&S but I understand what you mean. I enjoyed our round v. much and one day will make a lovely ornament with the squares you stitched for me.

Ha, Ha. Maybe that is why I stitch so many sheep, especially Bent Creek ones. They aren't especially primitive and certainly not Quaker. I like stitching, but not either primitive or Quaker or most samplers. It is very difficult to find things that aren't. There's always Miribilia or Teresa Wentzler, but they tend to be so large. I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with that isn't PS or CCN.

First of all your PL is stunning! Absolutely stunning. Congrats on how far you've come.

As for the fads -- I'm with you. I think the plan to delve into the piles you (and I) both have is an excellent one. I'm sure we both have plenty to tide us over.

PL is just stunning! The color thread that you picked for it is so beautiful.

I so agree with you on what's popular now. In fact, I'm convinced that's partly causing the decline of cross stitch. Too many things looking alike. It's hard to tell one designer from another. Can you tell I have the same soapbox as you? ;-)

Wow, almost done! It is looking very very elegant!

Wow, you made great progress this weekend! Sadly my vacation time hasn't been spent stitching (but we've been having fun). Can't wait to see what's in your stash.... I'd vote for a good, big, complex and hugely enjoyable TW! Maybe a dragon?

PL is looking gorgeous, you've made huge progress

Great job on PL.

I totally agree with you about the primitive designs. Only a couple have caught my eye, and even then I've only succumbed to one that I doubt I will even frame with I finish it. (Don't ask why I bothered to buy it. I don't know.)

I'm stitching a lot of things I wouldn't have looked at in the past, like Victoria Sampler designs. I think it is because I'm looking for a challenge (e.g. speciality stitches) and because there just isn't much new out there that is my style. Looks like being a stash stitcher for a while is the only answer.

PL is stunning! What floss are you using? I have the chart and you make me itch to start it. Too many others on the go right now tho!
I agree with you on the primitive designs. They're nice to look at, sometimes... Maybe I can tempt you over to the dark side! Ever perused the HAED site? (I'm an addict!)

Im not a PS fan either though i do have a couple of the CC designs in my stash most are not to my taste. I usually like things that are a challenge or something i can get my teeth into, which is probably why my things take so so long to do.

Enjoy your last day on PL and look forward to seeing how much more you get done.

I love the progress you've made on PL, it's so close to a finish :) I'm afraid I haven't picked my PL up in quite a few weeks!

You have made excellent progress on PL! I sort of feel the same way about stash-I have slowly been decreasing more and more buying. I didn't think I would ever get to that! LOL

You made fantastic progress over the break - Pl is gorgeous! :0)
Some of the PS designs are growing on me but most I can leave alone. I do like CC & LHN though - they're always pretty. :0)
