That's Better-er!

Tonight I faced the scale once again... like I do every Tuesday night. I went to my WW meeting without any high hopes. Last week's weigh in really sent me for a psychological spin, I had a few moments where I placated those feelings with food. Not a lot, but more than I should of and not what I should of (like 3 Cadbury Thins at 1:30am on Sunday!). I did keep eating properly, and kept moving (except when I was on my butt stitching).

I started out this morning with a better outlook on my weight loss journey, and what a journey its been! I made myself a healthy and filling breakfast, and lunch. I did something different this morning, I pulled out of my jewelry box an old ring I had bought years ago (I'm not a big ring wearer) and put it on. I have taken a page out of my meeting leader's book, to use a ring as an anchor. This is something you use to remind yourself what you're doing, why you're doing it, also to help you stop some behaviours. Lately I find my hand dipping into the candy dishes too much, or if I have a treat, I have two. Also "just having one" when something is offered. I decided to use my ring to anchor me from the little extra licks, tastes and bites I have during a week. So hopefully each time I reach out my right hand to take something to eat I'll see/feel my ring and change my mind. It worked very well today.

I've also decided I will get to my goal weight when I get there. I'm going to eat well, move often, and attend my meetings!

So what did all this mean at the scale tonight? Well I lost 1.5lbs! Yay!!! I am now 8lbs from goal.

well done , not far to go now, I find if I want a treat I allow myself 3 either small hard candy , small chocolates or rich tea biscuits , not daily but as and when

The ring sounds like a great strategy, I'll have to try that!

You've done so well, big hugs to you :)

Dani....you're great! You got down. That's okay...sometimes we need to go down so we can soar up again. You turned your frustration and sadness into power, strength. Into something positive and inspiring. You're LIVING right, Dani!

Congratulations!

I'm starting my new "life plan" today. So far, I've eaten a healthy breakfast. +1 for me! LOL

You have inspired me to keep my eye on the end goal not just the day to day ups and downs.

WOOHOO for you! Great loss this week. Those gains keep us honest, as much as they are never fun!

Very smart idea with the ring. Congrats on the loss!
I need to get back on my bandwagon here. I have been lax about it all to say the least. My problem is, I just have too much to concentrate on and I am not one to do much multi-tasking!
I see your progress, and think to myself, that could be me...yes it could.
You GO girl!

I really like that tip regarding the ring. I'm starting to feel like I'm missing out because I do WW Online rather than go to meetings. I'm five pounds away from my goal and when you do the online program it's no biggy to meet your goal. And I'm having a hard time understanding what happens when you start maintantence. It might be time to join at least for a while. :-) YGG!

Sounds like a wonderful attitude! Congrats on the scale moving in the right direction and I really like the ring idea...I do wear rings but I have room for another one, even a gaudy faux would be nice :-) Talk with you soon, keep up the great work!

Wow, only 8 pounds away! That is so awesome! I think you have the right idea though. Just try and eat right and getting a bit of exercise can do amazing things!

Great job, Dani.

I'm learning that it isn't so much about getting to my goal weight as fast as I can, but more about changing my life so my goal weight is my weight. Make sense? (Probably not, I need sleep. :) ) I figure I'll get there when I do, and the setbacks only work to show me that I don't really enjoy all those things.

Well done. I like the idea of a ring - I think I would need one with a really big stone that I just couldnt even pretend to miss lol.

well done Dani - more for the positive outlook than the loss (which is great in itself). I think Silverlotus hit the nail on the head about goal weights...

Glad to hear your back on track-mind and body. You have accomplished so much-but I too would have freaked out over the 3.5lb gain. The ring is such a cool idea to follow. I have complete faith that you will meet goal sooner than you think!

Hi Dani,

It's nice to hear that you've been
able to loose another bit of weight
towards your goal. And your new
resolve to go with the flow and not
obsess about loosing the final bit
of weight is sound thinking and in
line with everything that Weight
Watchers teaches. I like the idea
of wearing your ring as a reminder
to yourself of how you want to
continue living and managing your
eating habits.

Paradigm Lost is looking fantastic
and I can well imagine how hard it
must be to put it down and turn
your focus to other projects. I
love seeing each motif develop as
you stitch it and being able to
look at your close up pictures allows us to get a better look at and appreciate the detail in each
motif.

Have a great weekend! Cheers!

Dani I wish I had your willpower - I'm so impressed with your weight loss journey. I know you will make goal very soon! It's a struggle every day to avoid those little extras that add up but you can do it!
