Long Weekend Stitching, and Fabric Opinions Please!

Its the May 2-4 weekend as we Canadians call it, technically its Victoria Day Weekend, for some strange reason we get a long weekend to celebrate Queen Victoria's Birthday.  She's been dead a very long time now, but I'm not going to knock it!

So first I'm going to ask for your opinion, a good, long time TKD buddy of mine is getting married at the end of July and I finally got the wedding invite.  So its time to buckle down and stitch his wedding gift.  I've settled on Bent Creek's Wedding Row.  I really want to work from what stash I have so I've narrowed down my fabric choice to two, both from the Wichelt hand dyed Joblean line.  Let me know which you think looks better.

Dried Thyme - This is the one I'm leaning towards

Not A Creature Was Stirring... JCS 2008 Ornament Issue

First up on the stitching agenda for the weekend is my ornament for the Month of May.  I'm working on this cute little guy.

I'm also hoping to finish off 1/4 of Celestial Dragon, I won't be stitching every single moment this weekend as I've got some things to do and go to but we'll see how far I get.

Good luck on CD this weekend.

Your choice will look lovely. I am looking for a wedding one to do for my granddaughter and might consider doing this one as well.

Dried Thyme. I stitched this one last year for a cousin, it works up so quick. I still want to stitch it again for myself & the husband.

Both fabrics are lovely, but I think that the floss pops more on Dried Thyme.
I love this design, and would love to stitch it for myself one day.

I like the Dried Thyme - think the white floss shows up more. It's hard to tell from photos and monitors. Have a great stitchy weekend!

Have a lovely weekend. My vote would be for Dried Thyme.

Another vote for the Dried Thyme - on my monitor at least, the 3865 shows up better. And that is a very cute chart, too!

LOL , I agree with Barbi , the floss pops more on the Dried Thyme , but either would look great. Can't wait to see it finished.

It does seem to be a strong trend: dried thyme. Enjoy your four day weekend. We Yanks get ours next weekend: Memorial Day Weekend. The Celestial Dragon look wonderful.

I like the dried thyme, as well. My hubby (and 3 of the kids) are Canadian and he says it's the weekend to grab a 2-4! We live in the states in a border town, so everyone in Ontario is in our town right now. Have a great weekend!!

Dried thyme gets my vote too. But on my monitor, it's almost a toss-up.

The dragon is really looking great!

Hope you enjoy your stitchy weekend. It's my last before I return to work Tuesday. Sigh!!

How odd, we don't have a public holiday for QV's birthday here, we don't even have one for QEII's (official or unofficial)

I think the top fabric looks best with the threads, the blue doesn't seem to quite sit right on the other one

Another vote for the Dried Thyme, Dani... Your friend will just love your special wedding gift :)

Both are beautiful and either fabric choice will be lovely. I'm going to go against the rest though and say I like Sand Castle the best. I think the white will stand out better on it. And I Love the progress you've made on CD.

I like the look of dried thyme too.

If you haven't already made your decision, I'd go with the first one too, but I'd want to try some test stitches to see if the white stands out enough. There isn't much white in the pattern so you should be good.

CD is looking wonderful, and I like Deco as well. Didn't see where you'd made your choice on fabric yet, I'd lean towards the Dried Thyme too, but it will look wonderful on either I'm sure.
