Images From Georgian Bay

For the first week of my holidays I hopped into my car and drove 5.5 hours west from my home to the Port Severn area of Georgian Bay (Ontario).  After Sheila inviting my circle of stitching friends up for a mini-getaway in June, I called her up a few weeks later and boldly invited myself up for a visit during my summer holidays.  I was very lucky, and Sheila agreed for me to come up for a few days at the end of July.  I had a great visit with Sheila and gave me an opportunity to get to know her better, as every time I have seen her has been at the spring and fall retreats in a room full of yacking, stitching ladies.

Sheila & Jim's home from the water

Jim still has his grandfather's car from 1935, we went for a drive and ice cream I got to sit in the rumble seat in the back!  What fun!

Sheila my wonderful hostess and her dog, Molly

Boys from one of the many camps on Georgian Bay

An neat little tug!

One of the islands you can camp on, closed for obvious reasons!  Yikes!

Lots of sailboats about

The loon, found on the $1 coin... the loonie!

The Marine Train At Big Chute, the water levels between two bodies of water is just too drastic for locks so the boats drive onto this "train" are brought up the hill and drive on in the next body of water.

Marine Train delivering its passenger in the other lake

The hydro dam open at Big Chute, great white water!

Severn Falls

A number of silos in the Midland area are painted like this

It was a wonderful 4 days in the gorgeous Georgian Bay region!  Thank you Sheila and Jim for your generous hospitality!

Beautiful photos, Dani! I well remember the haunting sounds of the loons from our summer visits to Ontario...my son loved them so much he even bought a CD of "loon music" to bring home with him one year!

Thanks for sharing!

Nothing quite like the sounds and sightings of Loons, What a beautiful destination, and wonderful way to spend a few days of your vacation. Have fun with your Mom in Quebec City.

OH YOUR CD IS AS AWESOME AS EXPECTED. I can't wait to see how you frame this one.
Be always in stitches.
