I Think Hell Froze Over

Out there in Blogland there's a lot of bloggers talking about how much snow they've had .... unless you've had a meter or more, really you've not had a lot.  Now the trend has moved to HOW COLD it is!  Some people were complaining about -8C.... the proof in the picture above.  Holy Crap its COLD here!  This was the reading on my car when I left for work this am.  That was before you took into account the windchill factor which was about -36C.  When I drove home from work, we had warmed up to a balmy -21C.  Its supposed to be just as cold tomorrow morning but with a colder windchill!  So if you're colder than -28C (-18.4F) or have had more than a meter of snow please feel free to complain!

Besides complaining about the cold and the snow (can you tell I am not a winter person?) I do have some stitching to share with you!  I spent four days working on Kathy's ABC sampler and the result was finishing the Angel (as you saw in my last post), I have also finished B for Bell in those 4 days.  I'm now onto a 4 day cycle with The Accolade.  Several of my stitching friends are doing 4 day rotations on their WIPs and its doing wonder for their progress.

The whole sampler so far

Beautiful needlework - and, I swear, you have the prize for winter weather.

We had wind -25 chills yesterday, but warmer today. I guess we have some flurries tomorrow. Nothing to complain about!!!

Your WIPS look great! I think I'll quit complaining about 30 and freezing fog!

Gorgeous stitching. I'll have to stop moaning at tne -8 now. I think you have won that war lol. Not a cold weather person either. We're just not used to it being so cold.

That is quite spectacularly cold but yes, I am going to complain ;)
I am going to complain that we haven't had any snow at all. Not a single flake. I feel robbed!
The ABC is looking wonderful by the way

Lovely stitching! How you can stitch with hands that have to be frozen with that COLD weather is beyond me! Wow, -28C!! Yikes. Try to stay warm!

We had that much snow last year (which was a first in my lifetime), but thank goodness nowhere close to that temp. Stay safe! Nice progress on the WIP.

Oh, Dani I guess I won't tell you that yesterday is was 82 here in Phoenix. No, not what you want to hear at all. LOL! Seriously our last winter in PA was just like the one you're having and I swore I'd never live there again. Stay warm, friend.

Love the finishes on the ABC sampler. Very cute.

Great progress on the ABC Sampler! Cold is an understatement, I think hell has frozen over down here too! It's warming up though after today for us, it will almost feel like Spring :) LOL. Stay warm

As to the cold, it really is a matter of what you are accustomed too. I'd expect Canadians to be sturdier folk in their approach to the cold. Down here in the NYC are single digit temps in the Fahrenheit range are rare enough to cause comment especially when the wind chill factor brings it down into the negative numbers. And frankly, most Yanks just have no clue about Celsius temps ... oh, we have this vague sense that 0 is the freezing point of water but making comparisons between the two systems is really shaky.

Wow! And I thought I was cold here! Don't freeze!
Lovely progress!

Well, yes, that is VERY cold. But it still does not make me feel warmer here, where it is currently 0º. :(

Brrrr! That is cold. My sampler is looking wonderful . Thanks hon.

Brrrr!!! I was thinking it was cold here, -15-20C, but then I saw on the news last night how cold it is on the eastern half of the country! We've had a huge amount of snow, but not a lot of that kind of cold, except for over Christmas... My friend in Winnipeg posted a pic on FB last night similar to yours, except it was so cold her car wouldn't even display the temperature! Stay warm my friend!

The Christmas sampler will be very festive. I love projects with metallics. Or I should say, I like LOOKING at them. I hate working with the stuff.

In my part of the world....it's summer and it's HOT. I hate summer! :P
I'm also doing a 4 day rotation and so far it's doing wonders for me :)
Bells looks great!

-28...I can't even imagine! I become very whiny when it gets below 40F. Stay warm! Great stitching on Kathy's Christmas RR!

I love the ABC Sampler. Your letters are awesome. Can you tell me the name of the designer.

I am one of those complaining about the cold, but I think I'll keep my mouth shut after reading about those frigid temperatures!!

Nice progress on Kathy's RR... All of that metallic stitching would have driven me bonkers, though!! Good for you for persisting :)

Temps like that were one of the reasons I moved south. I wanted to think that 0C was cold!!! It was 9F when I left my house the other morning - here in central Virginia that's unheard of! Great progress. A four day rotation? Hadn't thought of that, but as I really only stitch on the weekends I don't suppose it would really matter to me.

How cold can it possibly get? Tuesday morning, we had -47C with windchill (NW Ontario). Today, it was quite balmy--a mere -25C (-35 with windchill). Times like this, I miss B.C.
On a brighter note, your stitching is beautiful.
:o)

Hehe, wish we had a metre of snow! Everyone here has been complaining about any little bit of snow and any temp under 0. But that's the english for you, a bunch of wimps :)
Good stitching progress.

Hi, Dani,

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love your stitching - and it is great to see another face in the "younger crowd" in our community! Looking forward to updates whenever you start your Teresa Wentzler piece - I want to stitch "Camelot Sampler," too, but I don't think I will get to it until about 2015 at this rate. :)

It has been averaging about -35 here with the windchill for the last week. It's cold!

Your Christmas sampler is coming along nicely. I look forward to seeing more of the Accolade.

We're actually getting back to normal winter temps. We've been spoiled for several years now. When I first moved to the area we always had winter temperatures of -30. Everyone I knew had a block heater and the canal was open for skating a lot earlier in the season. Yup, it's cold! I sure feel it a lot more now than I used to.

Lovely finishes, so bright and colorful. We've been lucky, so far no where near that cold and we haven't had much snow. However, lately it's moving that way, so I imagine winter will move in more forcefully now, just got a bit of a late start.
