The Halfway Point

This morning when I woke up I forgot one of my New Year's rituals! It was time for out with the old... emptying the ort jar that is! Lots of pretty colours in there from 2008 eh? I decided that this year I'd have a bigger and better ort jar! This is the vase that Todd sent me flowers in for our anniversary. Let's see how full it'll be at the end of 2009!

I set myself one little goal for my Christmas break (please I don't want to go back on Monday!), to work on Paradigm Lost, to hopefully get to the half way point. Tonight, I managed to do that! I've now stitched pages 1-6, only 7-12 left to go! I'll break from PL for a little bit to stitch up an exchange piece that I'd like to get sent out shortly.

After hitting the 1/2 way mark tonight I pulled out a quick little stitch! This finished up very quickly and is cute, my floss colour is a little wacky but I like it.

Now how about a PhotoHunt, I really mean to do these things on a regular basis, then I get lazy! Here's #132 : Family

This is Todd and I from Thanksgiving 2007 (can you tell? I'm fat!) on the 1000 Islands Boat Cruise, we had a wonderful weekend! Family is a strange thing for me, my parents are immigrants so all I have here in Canada are my folks, siblings, niece and nephew. I now have an extended family through Todd. We aren't a close knit family that makes a big deal out of holidays and birthdays, rarely are we all together and when we do there's always some kind of tension. I love my family, but I don't like to see them too much (except my parents). Todd really is the closest person to me besides my Mum who calls me almost daily LOL (and only lives 15 minutes away!).

I'm not really sure what an ort jar is but it is really pretty. Your "old me/new me" photo is beautiful. YOU are beautiful and an inspiration in oh so many ways. Family is so important. I live very far away from all of my family. Thank goodness I have my extended family (through my husband). They aren't "hug" people..or should I say they weren't. Through me, they are learning what being a "hug family" is all about! I call my mom alot too..thank goodness telephone calls are one of the few things that are cheap in Germany! Looking forward to sharing 2009 with you!

I have a small glass jar myself ( I mean it's the second one as Chuy broke the first one ... ) Yours is huge but it's going to be fun at the end of 2009 to see how it's full !!!

Where are your family from? My gd parents were from Poland, the others one are from France. My kids have relatives in 4 countries and it's hard to keep a close relationship ...

When you will have reach your weight goal, you should post before and after pictures ;-) By the way, how far away from your goal are you? Your weight loss is very impressive !!! That's very inspiring !!!

Congrats girl on the halway point. It is looking great. Your little believe pillow is funky in that cool color! Ah, but you do have lots of extended family too - your stitchy family. We care about you.

I was wondering when the emptying of the Ort Jar was happening! Glad I was witness to the spectacle! :)
I got myself a "fancy" new Ort Jar too this year instead of my Mason Jar...and it's a vase too from last Valentines! LOL! You know great minds and all that :)

I forgot about the ORTS as well! I'll have to do that later today. I'll take a picture, because as much as it doesn't seem like it at times, I stitched WAY more in 2008 than I have in years (I wonder why that is...four weekends in a row with you could have helped with that). Can't wait to see your beautiful vase full of floss :-)

PL is looking grand, congrats on the halfway marker :)

Your ort jar is cool, I never keep my thread ends, they go straight in the bin, but your jar looks so pretty!

Congrats on your halfway mark! I love the idea of an ort jar. I keep mine in one of the compartments of my project floss box, then throw them away at the end of the project. It would be neat to see the colors accumulate over the year. Thanks for the idea!

I thought I was the only one that annually tried to fill an ORT jar. This year's orts are going to go in a glass Christmas ball to commemorate the year. So far the only thing in the ort jar is red cotton. LOL

I absolutely LOVE 'Believe'. That floss is gorgeous.

Reading through your year in review you had quite a year. Congratulations on accomplishing so much, your weight loss was awesome. I loved your earlier finish of Snow Gazing, so cute, and your recent finish Believe looks great in those colors, fun piece. Congratulations on reaching the half way point on PL, it is looking wonderful, and have fun filling up this years ort jar.

Your ort jar is beautiful. I also collect orts. I've just never gotten rid of them. I'll have to blog about that someday. Your weight loss is very impressive and you should be so proud of yourself. Keep up the wonderful work!

I sometimes use my orts to fill a biscornu or little pillow fob.
That is a nice vase for them!

That is a cute little Believe with the Bright threads!

p/s PL is Awesome good for you!!!!!

How cool is that - an ort char. I think I will adopt this idea. So far my orts have all gone into a little bag next to my stitching place. I'll have to change this.

Your are stitching fast on PL, already half of it done!

The ornament looks great with the yarn, so different from the others I have seen so far.

Wahoooo!! Halfway of PL and it is looking stunning!

Love the ornament. I hope to stitch that one this year in the ornament SAL that I joined to get me motivated!

My DH went back to work today. I don't think he wanted to go either!

and nice orts jar; I like to save mine, too!

I stole your idea and kept all my orts over 2008. I've yet to take a pic of them. I'm hoping to do it soon.
