Ottawa Bluesfest 2011 - Billy Talent

It was another gorgeous, but not so hot evening in Downtown Ottawa last night and Christin and I were back at Bluesfest!  This time we were there to see Theory of a Deadman (better known as TOAD) followed by Billy Talent.  Sadly, TOAD couldn't play, word on the street was one of them had food poisoning.  Needless to say we were disappointed especially Christin since she had spent all day listening to TOAD, myself I was excited to see Billy Talent!

It was an AWESOME show, I think they played pretty much every song I wanted to hear!  I started the night at a descent distance from the stage, but managed to end up within 3-4 people of the barrier by the end of the show.  I have to say the security guards certainly earned their pay cheque last night, between the water they were spraying us with to cool us down and the sheer volume of crowd surfers!  I even received an offer to go up, but I declined... would you be shocked to hear I've done that before???  I didn't think so.

So let's just let the pictures do the talking!

The crowd started cheering and getting excited when the Billy Talent background was  hoisted up

A wee bit of a self portrait

There was a LOT of crowd surfers!

If you look closely (click to biggify) yes... that is a guy in a WHEEL CHAIR crowd surfing!!!  My self and the lead singer had thought we had seen it all at concerts... until this!

Crowd surfing in a wheel chair will get you invited on stage!

 Mosh pit

This shot just makes me giggle!

 I LOVE THIS SHOT!!!!

Shot of the stage before I managed to get closer

This hairdo makes me think of Wolverine!

Another great shot from the night

This is my last concert for about a month and a half, in September Christin and I will be heading to Scotiabank Place to see Pearl Jam and a little later that month I'll be going back with my Mum to see Roger Daltry performing The Who's Tommy from start to finish.

You really did get some good shots. Remember the days when cameras were NOT permitted at concerts? Guess the IPhone changed all that.

It's a brave man that will surf in a wheelchair. Looks like he had a good time.
