Framing Frustrations!

Argh! I'm pissed off at myself! As I've previously alluded to, I've got two pieces to be framed for a client. I had picked a very lovely and quite expensive molding (over $5/ft!), this evening when I got home from work it was time to get cutting. I'm very careful, I check my measurements, and off I'm cutting with my compound mitre saw in the basement. I take my pieces upstairs and I start cleaning up my ends and trimming down using my mire trimmer. I always like to get one side down to the right dimensions then as I trim the opposite side I realize oh I must of grabbed one of the top or bottom pieces. Nope... argh! I've cut it one inch too small!!! The worst part is I had enough but not enough to cut two more 22 1/2 inch pieces. Crap! Crap! Crap! Now I've got to go out buy a new 9ft length and seeing as its my mistake, guess who pays for it? Yup I do! Actually what that means is I won't make any money on the job. Todd and I have had a little chit-chat and he thinks I'm wayyy undercharging, and he's right.

This morning we woke up to more snow! So here's my lovely snow covered spruce tree. We're supposed to get over 2cm of snow overnight. Sounds like we've got more coming over the next few days. Urgh!

I got a lovely little surprise in the mail! A beautiful skein of GAST in Mistletoe! How appropriate for the season! Thank you to my Belgium mystery gifter! I'll have to find just the right thing to stitch with it.

Oh well one frame is made now, I guess I can have dinner and stitch!

I'm sorry to hear that it didn't go well!

Hopefully you will be able to use those pieces on a different frame one day.

I agree with Hannah. Hang onto those pieces and use them in a different frame.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this, Dani. :( Hannah is right though, I'm sure you'll be able to use those pieces for something else. It won't feel so bad then. {Hugs}

Urgh! At least the pieces are salvagable for another project and not completely ruined. I know you're not a fan of snow, but your spruce tree is beautiful. I really miss having a good snowstorm.

Dani, how frustrating!! I know the botch hits your budget at a time when we all need extra. :( Hope you're able to reuse the pieces on another job. Hugs!

It's too bad for the frame ... :-( Maybe you should charge a little more next time to cover this kind of problems ... Nice gift: the color is very well for the season!!!

Oh Dani, how miserable! I hope you're able to use these on another project instead.
On a more positive note, your castle is looking sooo good! Your needles must be smoking!

Oh Dani, I'm so sorry, what rotton luck. As Hannah said, hopefully you can use them on a different piece in the future so it won't be a waste. In the meantime, the extra expense (and time you have to spend to redo the cutting) around Chistmas time would hurt. Hopefully the redo goes smoothly for you.

The floss is a lovely green, very appropriate for this time of year.
