April Ornament SAL Report

I don't think I got in as many ornaments as I did back in March, but lets go back through my finishes for the month and see what I accomplished!

 I managed to stitch up a couple of more gift tags/ornaments (I'll be using them as ornaments)

Finally, my recent finish from this past weekend....

In the next month I'll probably finish up those last two gift tags (one is already in the works) and we'll see what other ornaments catch my eye!

Post IHSW

The weekend is over and that means that the IHSW (International Hermit and Stitch Weekend) its was more of a IHNW (International Hermit and Nap Weekend).  I had a real good nap both on Saturday and Sunday!  Of course this really cuts into your perfectly good stitching time.

c La Comtesse & Le Point de Croix

Stitched on 40ct linen using Gloriana Rosewood

On Saturday night I wrapped up my new start/small.  Its this great freebie I found online that once I saw it I knew I'd be stitching it on my next smalls rotation.  I've also been having the urge to work on 40ct.  Yes, the urge!  I used a lovely, deep, red silk, but I think I would of liked to use something a little brighter.  Also this ornament came out quite a bit bigger than I'd like, even using 40ct, it is almost 3" high!  Of course I was lazy and didn't use a fabric calculator, I just started stitching!  I may stitch this a second time in the future on 25ct over one with a brighter red.

On Sunday I decided to pick ABC Christmas Sampler back up and I started K is for King.

PhotoHunt - Wither

This week's PhotoHunt theme is "Wither"

I took this photo this past February in the slums below Simon Bollivar in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic.  This withered face has so much character I wonder what she's seen in her lifetime?  Was she born, has lived and will die in these slums?

Accolade Rotation & Upcoming IHSW

Last night was my final day of my four-day rotation on The Accolade.  I did stretch it to a few hours tonight so I could finish the current row of 10 I was working on.

While I'm working on this piece I can never see the details so close up!  Then I take a picture and I see it here in the screen and the details of this piece just pop out and constantly amaze me!  There's now a boy, and I can see a monk in his robe with that funny haircut!

This weekend is the IHSW, International Hermit and Stitch Weekend.  I don't think I'll get too much hermitting done on Saturday as I've got a few things I need to go to.  So far Sunday is wide open to sit on my butt and stitch all day!  Of course sometimes plans come together which thwart my stitching plans but that's okay!  Tonight I moved onto the next stage in my rotation, smalls.  I have a new start tonight, I know this piece shouldn't take me four days to stitch and I haven't decided if I'll spend the full four days on smalls or move back to one of my two large pieces.  I'm feeling the urge to make significant progress on my big pieces!

Moving On In My Rotation

Finally!  Today I get to move onto the next project in my stitching rotation, onto Accolade.  Its funny I've been chomping at the bit to get back to this piece for some reason.  Maybe its because I'm now on the bottom half of the page so I can see a finished page in my future.  Probably not this rotation though.

I added one extra day to my 4-day rotation to get Baby Jesus out of the way.  I have to say this was not one of my favorite blocks on Kathy's Christmas ABC Sampler.  So far the only blocks I've not enjoyed stitching have been A for Angel and J for Baby Jesus... hmmm could it be the fact that I see these two as religious objects and I'm not a very religious person myself??

Look at how much of the whole piece is done now!!!  Next time this piece comes up in rotation, I'll be working on "K for King"

Smalls Rotation

Yesterday was my final day in my Smalls Rotation, this rotation was VERY productive.  I'm sure my friends like Christin, Bonnie, Tracey and Leslie were a little tired of me iMessaging Happy Dance pictures to them this weekend!

With one of my finishes I wanted to share to you the fantastic example it is for the difference backstitching can make!  Out there on the web I always see/hear a lot of complaining about backstitch.  I actually quite enjoy it and it must makes such an amazing difference on a piece!!!  Its like focusing your camera!

We are about good week into the month of April now and time to update you on yow I did with my March stitching goals and what I'd like to get done this month.

March Stitching Goals - Reviewed

• Stitch one ornament - I stitched 6!
• Stitch Just Nan Gingerbread Mouse - Done and oh so cute!
• Finish D is for Dove - I actually finished D-G!
• Work on the Accolade - Yup

April Stitching Goals

• Stitch an ornament
• Complete at least 3 rows on page 6 of The Accolade
• Finish J for Baby Jesus on Christmas ABC Sampler
• Finish Winter Cottage by Michael Powell

I finished my latest rotation on the Accolade mid week and this is where it stands right now.  I'm enjoying the witnesses of this knighting appear out of the shadows!

I'm now onto my smalls rotation, as much as I enjoy my other pieces, this part is fun because I find I get so much done moving from one little piece to the next over a couple of days!

A number of you have shown interest in the Tartan Thistle Scissor Keep I finished up in my last blog entry.  There was so much stitching to share in that last entry that I didn't give all the details that I normally would!  So here's the details :

This year I celebrated my birthday in a "Quirky" manner!  Well actually almost in a "red necked" manner.  My friend and her husband took me sharp shooting!!!  They did offer to take me to the movies but this sounded so much more fun!!!
