Safe N' Syracuse

I arrived safe and sound in Syracuse, N.Y at the dinner hour tonight. My drive and border crossing were trouble free. Boy, those customs officers are getting a little nosy, or you feel like you're getting the 9th degree! This particular one wanted to know who I knew in Jacksonville, how I knew Claire, and what did I do for a living. It seems these days its more than where you going, how long are you going to be there, and do you have anything to declare.

I was a good girl, and shortly after settling in I went for a good 45 minute brisk walk. Its nice to stretch the legs after a couple of hours in the car.

Only a few short hours in the U.S., and I'm already shopping! I went to a nearby Michael's and picked up these great spools of ribbon for $1! I also got some flower head pins. Then I wandered around The Christmas Tree Store for those of you not familiar with this store... its essentially a crap shop. I got these two cute little bags! I was able to find a red one with my initial on it, and I got a blue one without an initial. Did you notice whose come along for this latest adventure????

Well I'm tired and I have to get up at "freakin' early o'clock" to get to the airport. I'll be giving Claire a huge hug by lunchtime tomorrow!!!!

I'm glad you made it to Syracuse safely. I have found both sides of the border doing that when I go thru Buffalo now. It's both Canadian and US border patrol. Somehow I don't think they believe me when I say I'm a librarian but I'm in jeans and a t-shirt so I look about 20...lol.

I wonder what I will say the next time going up to Canada when they ask... who are you visiting, how long have you known him, what is he in relation to you, how did you meet... it's like getting the third degree that you get when you are single and at a wedding....lol.

Enjoy your time in NY. I hope the weather will get much better for you. :-)

Maybe when you come back from Florida, you could pack some sun and warm weather (not too hot) for all of us in Northeastern US and Ontario/Quebec/Nova Scotia... ;-)

And you know that the stuff sold in the Christmas stores is the stuff that the school kids sell to raise money during the year. That's when the rolls of wrapping paper cost $10 each. Rip off!!

Do you like the flower head pins? I've found that I like them more because they seem to be thinner and the bonus of the head being flat.

Hi Dani!
Welcome to NY! Ha!
If you stayed any longer they would probably start taxing you!
I'm just 2-1/2 to 3 hours due south of Syracuse here.
Have a wonderful time in Florida! Hope it is not too hot for you this time of the year.

I love those bags. They are really cool.

Totally agree about those Custom Officers! Got checked really hard when I was in the Adelaide Airport. Opened up my suitcase and wallet and said 'you must be earning a lot, eh? Do you have have a part-time job?' GRRRRRR...

Yay! I'm happy your travels are going well. And I don't know what it is with the border guards north of Syracuse. We've lived in the US for 9.5 years now with several trips home each year. And every single time we've crossed north of Syracuse it's been a challenge. I think it's just that post. I've never had such intrusiveness and overbearing questioning as we have there. Or had the guards claim we "MUST" come into the office for further examination, fingerprinting and photographing. And why wasn't it done before when we've crossed the border? Umm, because it's not required. Not for Canadians... So know it wasn't you, just them!
And much more importantly, enjoy the trip!

Dani, thank you so much for visiting my blog. I'm happy to have the link back to yours now, too.

Love the bags, and I'm way too familiar with Michael's sales. LOL.

I just love your little furry guy. Too cute! I hope you have/had a wonderful time on your trip.
