Crazy January Challenge Days 11 & 12

Being the weekend I was hoping to make some great stitching progress.  I did today, but Saturday not so much.

Saturday I had lots to do, like laundry in a washing machine that's not working properly (repair guy is coming on Tuesday)... that took forever and was an exercise in frustration!  I also had a cake to bake and decorate, was we were getting together as a family later that day to celebrate what would of been my Mum's 63rd birthday.  I'm glad we did that.

I thought I would be able to get in some good stitching time on Saturday so I started a small but ambitious project.  As you can see, I didn't get very far.  This piece was a class I took by Teresa Wentzler in 2008 called Camelot Miniature - its all over one!  I know I'm going to enjoy this piece when I really get going with it!

Today I definitely got in the stitching time I thought was going to on Saturday.  Today's start wasn't a planned one I was doing some work organizing my stash and this cute, chart just jumped out at me!  Today's start that I made great progress on is called Three Little Maids based on a Valerie Pfeiffer painting.

Just three more days of the Crazy Challenge to go!  Its a busy week ahead again so I'm sure there will be more small starts over the next few days.

What a wonderful thing to do for your family...remembering your Mum on her birthday. That's really touching and a nice memorial.
I love Valerie Pfeiffer's stuff and that start looks great!

I'm guessing the Three Little Maids are owls???? Too cute.

As a fan of owls, I'm looking forward to seeing this one grow, it looks so cute. It's good to take time to mark special days and just remember.

That's my favorite pattern of Valerie Pfeiffer, I can't wait to see it all stitched up.

I'm glad to see someone else who enjoys stitching over 1. Not a lot of people seem to enjoy it (it's such an eye strain), but I just love how project looks when it's finished. I'm also working on an over 1 pattern for the Smalls SAL.

I imagine that it was comforting for you all to be together on your Mum's birthday. Not a day to be alone for sure.

I'm learning to enjoy over 1. It's taken some time though! I'm enjoying seeing all your January Crazies projects.

A great start on cute ornaments. It is a nice tribute to your Mom that you all got together to celebrate her birthday. Jackie Kennedy once said she would be happy when Americans celebrated John's birth not remember only the day he died. I used to send my step-mom flowers on my Dad's birthday after he passed away.

The Three Little Maids looks like it is going to be very cute and any TW is fantastic. Over one takes more time but the result is so stunning. I am sure both pieces will be lovely when done.
I am glad you got together to celebrate your Mom's birthday. I always sing happy Birthday to my mom on her birthday and she passed away 23 years ago. I think of her often but especially on her birthday. It is a wonderful remembrance of what someone's life has meant to us.

Aren't they great, Valerie Pfeiffer's birdies? I love them all. And another start all over one. You are brave but I'm sure you love over one stitching a lot better than I do.

Must have been a good feeling to remember your mother's birthday as a family.

Love the Camelot Miniature, such a sweet little design but with all Teresa's signature details.

I love over 1 stitching, it's so delicate and fine.
