I Hope Our Seats Are Good...

Don't you always feel the pressure when you're the one who has bought the tickets for a show or concert. You hope your seats are good... that you're not too far from the stage, that you're close to center. You just hope that the other people you're with aren't disappointed with your selection.

Last night I played out one of these scenarios. My Mum, Christin, and I went to The Phantom of The Opera at the NAC. I had bought tickets for us months ago I couldn't get us center seats but I did manage to get us seats in row EE in the orchestra. So that's on the ground level and the first rows are double letters then they go to single letters. As we're walking towards the front I notice that no double letters are starting. Was I wrong? Were double letters at the back? Oh dear. We keep moving forward....

WE HAD FRONT ROW SEATS! I just laughed! I guess when I bought the tickets they failed to mention/show on the seating diagram that rows AA-DD were being removed for the orchestra pit.

What an experience to see Phantom from the front row! Your really can see the costumes, the sets and facial expressions... and you feel like you're in the show just there on the edge watching everything happen... not that you're sitting in an audience.

But, boy, what a late night. After diving everyone home I didn't get home and to bed until at least 12:15am. Its now almost 7am I need to go to work and I'm beat!

Hmmmm... can I get away with sleeping through the first staff meeting of the year?

Nice! I've always wanted to see the Phantom but it's slim pickin's on the east coast.

Sounds like a sweet time! I'd love to have front row seats for the Phantom! You lead a very interesting life Dani...you really do a lot of fun neat things! All I could post about "life wise" was cooking/cleaning and changing diapers! LOL!
Good luck in your first staff meeting of the year....don't snore! Maybe that would clue them in your sleeping :)

I always liked being close and off to the side instead of back and centre anyways, and as someone who works at a live performing arts complex, you would not believe the people that will not attend a performance if they can't get 5 rows back and dead centre...makes me spit nails! I'm so glad that Christin's first experience with Phantom was so wonderful, I'm sure you could talk her into going again...

WOW! Front row to the Phantom...Jealous am I! IT must have been amazing!
(And if you want to sleep through the first staff meeting just wear glasses with open eyes on the front of them aka Homer in the Simpsons!)
Cheers!

that happened to me one time. We had seats in row 3...but, there was no row 1 and 2! Very cool feeling. Sounds like you had a great time.

I saw the Vegas version of Phantom from the front row and it's pretty awesome!

I also saw the "real" version 5th row center and it was pretty cool, too ;) Right under the chandelier!

My son Daniel and I were in row B,dead centre at the NAC. I felt the same way you did. It was awesome! The chandelier was right above our heads! I got home around the same time and was up at 5:00 so I know exactly how you felt.

I saw Phantom about 9 years ago here in Brisbane. It's coming back again in February & DH has third row seats booked as a xmas gift. I'm so looking forward to going again!

We also had front row seats in Melbourne the first time it was here. I had no interest at all in seeing Phantom, but my boss at the time kept on at me, and in the end she just bought two tickets and said "You and Ken have just GOTTA see it!" So we did, and yes, we loved it!
