Fantasizing About Finishing

As you all know I have sure been on a finishing kick lately!  Let me remind you about some of my more recent forays into finishing land... its so nice that I've found my finishative lately!!!

Of course along with the urge to finish items comes a little shopping!  Here and there I've been picking up some more fabrics for finishing.  I've also been picking up more supplies and I've been running out!

As you can see here I've run out of batting (Warm N' Natural) which I use in my ornaments, flat folds, and more.  A crib sized piece goes a long way.  During my aforementioned trip to Jo-Ann's in my Scissor post.  I saw they had rotary cutters for 1/2 off so I picked up a new one.  I also grabbed a pinking blade, this way I can do pretty edges on ornaments finished with felt, I had a 50% off coupon for that...score!  Now you may be wondering what that purple thing is in the picture.  Its a ATG tape gun!  This is a tape gun for double sided tape used by framers when putting together double mats, or the dust cover on the back of a framed piece.  I also often use it during finishing when I need to stick things together.  In the past I just rolled it out by hand... dealing with the pesky paper strip.  This gun not only dispenses my tape beautifully but it collects the paper strip as well!  Sweet.  Even better than that is how much I paid for it!  Normally $60.00, with a Michale's 50% off coupon, plus a gift card I kept forgetting about in my wallet... a grand $10.00!!!!  Double score!

What are your favourite finishing bits and pieces that you can't live without... or perhaps you should think I should get.  I already have a crop-a-dial on my list what else should be on it?

Nice new stash!! I must admit, I need to buy rotary cutters & a cutting board!!! Waiting for my local shop to open (17th Nov) & will use a voucher I have to get them!!! My favourite finishing piece at the moment is double sided tape :D Amazing how handy it can be. Have a lovely weekend, Mii x

Finishative--love it!! I love all of your finishing, and love the new tools, too! My mother just visited and brought me a pinking blade for my rotary cutter, so I'm anxious to try it out. I stink big time at fnishing so don't have any tips or tricks, special bits or pieces.... just a lot of prayers that I don't totally mangle what I've stitched.

Fantastic finishing Dani.

Wow what a bargain! Wish we had stores that give coupons like that! I love that Warm and Natural batting but the place I used to buy it from no longer stocks it.

Wow, great finishing supplies.
I gues the cording tool is what I use the most. My finishing skills are limited.
Your finishes are lovely.

What a great feeling to see a WIP turn into a great finish...I think the Halloween pillow is my favorite, although the p. and p. needle keep is a close second. My favorite finishing item...my man...who always provides me with an extra set of hands, and is deadly accurate with centering, and lastly, keeps his wallet wide when going to the needle shoppes! What a fabulous year you have had Dani...your quilt , by far has my vote for stitched item of 2012...Blog on!

I can't live without my rotary cutter and the Warm n Natural batting too! I also love Aileen's Tacky Glue but it is messy so a little goes a long way! Pre-made cording is also a must have, so are the big sheets of matt board in the framing department.

I love the coupons at Michaels :) It's the only time I will buy something there!

I've loved seeing all your finishes of late and whats not to love about new supplies. I really like the look of the rotary cutter with pinking blade and what I really love is the look of the tape gun. I've seen the rotary blades here but they are quite expensive and we don't get coupons like you do in the US so it has to be saved up for, I've not seen those tape guns anywhere on this side of the world yet!

You do such a great job of finishing! I really need to get some of my finished items really finished. Love the tape gun! So much nicer than the little tape runner thingies I use.

I am a terrible finisher, but I just figured out why - I don't have the right tools for the job.. Now I am on a mission.

Great finishes, I always feel that Sunday is my Day for Finishing!

I love the tape gun and really want one now. My best thing is my paper cutter, I want to call it a guillotine like the big one we had a school with a great sharp blade like a scythe but mine is one with an enclosed slidy blade to make it safe around my boys.

I also have a carousel of scissors all with different shaped blades to cut paper in nice borders.

"Finishative"! Love it!
Great finishes there. I've tried the no backing double sided tape and I can't get on with it at all, I much prefer the paper strip type

You got some lovely deals. Finishing is something I really need to work on, as tend to do very little. At the moment I have about a dozen smaller pieces just sitting in a box as I haven't gotten around to actually finishing them.

Fabulous finishing Dani!! Doesn't it feel awesome to get it done?!! Those supplies are great for finishing. I find that when I'm sewing, I use a ruler to draw my lines on the back of the fabric, that way I know I'm sewing a straight line. That's my only trick!
